6 October 2016
With 86 days to the end of 2016, movie lovers already have every good reason to look forward to 2017 with huge excitement – one major reason is the March 3 release date for the Wolverine sequel.
The build-up to the 2017 release date kicked off on Wednesday when the director of the movie, James Mangold, and the lead role, Hugh Jackman, shared the official poster of the movie on the social media.
They not only shared the official poster, they shared something else that revealed some interesting details about the upcoming movie.
Below are a couple of the details we identified:
1. What pundits thought would be the title won’t be the title
Many were anticipating the next Wolverine sequel to be titled Old Man Logan (based possibly on the story by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven), but the poster apparently shows the title will simply be Logan.
2. Wolverine has a child; a daughter
This can be seen easily on the poster. What many will not see with similar ease is the fact that the little hand in Wolverine’s clawed hand is that of a girl. Our presumption that the little hand is that of his daughter based on early set photos of a female clone daughter of Wolverine from the comics (and current “Wolverine” in the Marvel books).
3. Wolverine is not as strong as in earlier sequences
This we clearly saw on the script page which Jackman and Mangold shared. A part of the script read: “As for our hero, well, he’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were.”
4. Wolverine is a drunk
This we also learnt from the shared script page. A part read: “He’s fading on the inside and his diminishing healing factors keeps him in a constant state of chronic pain – hence booze as painkiller.”
