We’ve all made that resolution at some point or the other in our lives, where we wanted to read more books. As it happens with all resolutions, life gets in the way, and we soon forget that we set out to increase our literary repertoire for the year.
One thing that helps to keep track of a resolution to read more books, is joining a book club. @TheReadClub is an online book club that has been organizing open discussions on books read every week via their twitter platform.
For the month of May, @TheReadClub released a list of books by African writers which you can also follow to read and join the weekly discussions on twitter.
For this first week; The Wizard of The Crow by Ngugi Wa Thiong’o.
Week Two; Musings of A Tangled Tongue (Poem Collection) by Yemi Adesanya.
Week Three; Disgrace by JM Coetzee.
Week Four; Minaret by Leila Aboulela.
Week Five; Wife of The Gods by Kwei Quartey.
Readers are leaders. Reading alone might not be so much motivation, but joining a book club is. You can also find more about The Read Club on their website; thereadclubinfo.wordpress.com
