On Africa day, mindful of the realities that still face Africa and Africans, the leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi highlited facts and realities about Africa that the world, especially Africans must take note of.
They are highlighted below:
– He mentioned that the Western Sahara have not yet realized their self-determination from Morocco.
– People of Swaziland are still under the dictatorial regime of King Mswati II.
– The continent is faced with terrorism and Islamic Fundamentalism in light of the increased problem of Boko Haram and Al Shabaab. Ndlozi said the groups have caused Africans terror, denying us peace, security and self determination
– He also noted that Africa is not economically independent. He said “economic freedom in the continent should mean that more than 60% of the goods and services that we consume from Cape to Cairo are produced or assembled in the continent”. He explained that Economic freedom meant quality health care, sanitation and housing. Our unity as Africans lie in our ability to realize economic emancipation. He called on Africans across the world to unite with the dream of the continent for unity towards economic self-determination.
