The Nigeria senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, Friday night defeated their Senegalese counterparts 76 – 71 in the semi-finals to seal a final spot at the ongoing 2017 Afrobasket championship.
The defending champions racked up three wins out of the four quarters in the semi-final clash against Senegal as they hope to retain the title they won in 2015.
At the end of the first quarter, D’Tigers established a 15 – 12 point lead over their opponents.
The second and third quarters were also fiercely contested but the Nigerian men nicked it at 19 – 17 and 18 – 16.
While Senegal won the final quarter 26 – 24, it was not enough to deny Nigeria a place in the final.
With the victory, Nigeria will face Tunisia in the final later today, Saturday.
