Manchester City is set to lose its record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero, again this season after the striker fainted in Argentina’s dressing room during the halftime break of his country’s 4 – 2 defeat in the hands of Nigeria.
The Argentine who scored his team’s second goal on Tuesday has however been cleared to travel to Man City more treatment.
“He fainted and was therefore transferred to carry out routine checks just as a precaution,” said Argentina’s official Twitter said.
Aguero was later pictured walking out of the stadium and Manchester City have provided an update on his condition, informing supporters that their all-time leading goalscorer has been cleared by doctors to return to Manchester.
Despite dominating early proceedings and racing to a 2 – 0 lead, Argentina slumped to a 4 – 2 in the friendly which took place at the Stadion FK in Krasnodar.
Goals from Ever Banega and Aguero put Jorge Sampaoli’s side 2 – 0 up before Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, slotted home a free-kick before the break.
A brace from Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and a goal from Brian Idowu secured a famous win for the Nigerians.
