With Alexis Sanchez closer than ever to a move away from Arsenal this January, the Gunners are themselves now closer to signing his replacement, Brazil’s 20-year-old winger, Malcom.
Chelsea looked ahead of everyone in the race for the Brazilian at the beginning of the January window.
Malcom’s agent has apparently dropped a hint on social media that Arsenal will sign the Brazilian star this January transfer window.
Arsene Wenger is keen to sign the Brazilian as a replacement for the Chilean, and is prepared to lodge an opening bid of £35million for the 20-year-old.
Bordeaux are thought to be holding out for £45million for Malcom, which is still a fraction of what Monaco want for Arsenal’s previous top target Thomas Lemar, who is valued at £90million.
Malcom, who can play either left, right or centre, helped Bordeaux to a 1-0 Ligue win over Troyes on Saturday night.
A delegation that represents the player were reportedly pictured arriving in London at the weekend.
If Arsenal do sign the Brazilian, Sanchez will certainly leave, with his most likely destination being Manchester United.
