Barcelona’s right back, Aleix Vidal suffered a nasty ankle injury in his team’s dominant 6 nil victory over Alaves on Saturday.

Following the examination of the twisted ankle, the former Almeria and Sevilla is expected to be sidelined for not less than five months.

After medical tests in Vitoria reaffirmed what many could see for themselves, the right-back will make his way back to Barcelona on Sunday to begin a lengthy recovery.

The 27-year-old defender has been a forgotten commodity, often left out of MatchDay squads altogether, and yet now he looks to be among the better options down the right flank.

Vidal added to his ever-growing lore in Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing of Alaves as he assisted Luis Suarez for the first goal of the match, sending an accurate, well-placed pass into the box, his fifth assist of the season in 11 matches played.
