Cristiano Ronaldo’s forward partner Real Madrid, Karim Benzema, has defended the Portuguese captain and frontrunner for the next Ballon d’Or award against selfish tag from critics

The French striker who ‘has no words’ for the ability of his Real Madrid teammate insisted that the Portuguese star is not selfish.

Netting 16 times in his last 10 appearances including a brace in the Champions League final, Ronaldo enjoyed a rich vein of form as Los Blancos clinched both the Champions League title and La Liga.

“I have no words. When I hear his name, I just have a gesture of admiration,” Benzema was quoted as saying by AS.

“He’s an extraordinary person. We understand each other well on the pitch. He wants to have the ball but it’s very difficult to get it when he runs with it.

“He’s not selfish on the pitch but if he has the ball he always wants to go for goal. And suddenly, he’ll set me up to score.”
