American Business Magazine, Forbes, well-known for its list and ranking of richest people around the world has ranked Beyoncé and Jay Z as 2016’s highest paid celebrity couple.

According to Forbes, the RnB songstress and her rapper husband made a whopping 107.5 million dollars over the past year.

Though they rank Number One as celebrity couple, individually on the latest annual ranking of the world’s top earning celebrity – Celebrity 100 list, Beyoncé ranked 34th with 54 million dollars while Jay Z was two spots behind at 36th with 53.5 million dollars.

With the couple recording a major jump in their earnings together, the couple individually went up the ranking.

Forbes attributed the boost in their rankings to “Lemonade”, Beyoncé’s visual album that was released early this year, debuting exclusively on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.

While Jay Z did not release a new single during the time under review, June to June, he did a lot of what Forbes described as “behind the scenes” work.

Infact, Jay Z hasn’t dropped a single in three years, did not go on a tour, but had only two shows in the year under review. Without all these, he’s been raking in millions from his Armand de Brignac champagne, D’Ussé cognac and entertainment company Roc Nation.

In 2013, the couple who are individually revered for their world acclaimed successes in spite of being together as a couple, also ranked first in Forbes highest-earning celebrity couples list.

They were dethroned by Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift, a much younger couple in 2014.

In spite of the 2014 dethronement, the King and Queen of hip-hop as many perceive them still earned a combined total of over 100 million dollars last year, and this year they lived up to their reputation and bounced back to the top.

In a statement released by Forbes, the annual Forbes Celebrity list measures pretax earnings for front-of-camera celebrities across the globe and do not deduct for fees paid to agents, managers or lawyers.

Forbes says its numbers are determined by gathering data from the likes of Nielsen, Pollstar and BoxOfficeMojo, as well as from interviews with industry insiders and some of the stars themselves.

On the latest ranking, Taylor Swift is the world’s highest-paid celebrity of 2016.
