The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday decried the attitude of Rep. Abdumumini Jibrin, a former Chairman of the House’s Appropriation Committee, who disregarded the party’s intervention in the budget padding saga in the House.
This is contained in a statement released to newsmen in Abuja by Mr Timi Frank, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party.
Frank, in the statement, said the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Sen. Lawal Shuaibu, had addressed a letter to Jibrin ordering him to avoid issuing public statements on the lingering budget scandal at the green chamber.
Jibrin had in his latest tweets, accused Speaker Yakubu Dogara of conniving with two serving governors and ex-lawmakers to change the media narrative against him.
Frank accused Jubrin of lack of respect for the Shuaibu-led committee, which had said, was working tirelessly to resolve the crisis.
“’It is now obvious how desperate and disrespectful Rep. Jibrin could be even to the leaders of our party.
“The trio of the National Deputy Chairman (North), National Secretary, National Treasurer and others have been sleeplessly working to ensure that peace returns to the House.
“But if Jibrin does not have respect for the Speaker as a person, it is expected of him to respect the Office of the Speaker, the number four citizen of our party and the country.
“Jibrin should also be told that he has clearly shown disrespect for President Muhammadu Buhari who is the leader of our party by this singular act.
“His continuous show of shame does not only stop at him, but has great negative impact on the party, its members and the President Muhammadu Buhari’s-led government.
“He should be also aware that disobeying party in this manner may attract sanction if the party deems it fit,’’ he said.
“It is high time Jibrin keeps quiet and stop this public show of shame before his excesses will be made known to Nigerians and the whole world,’’ Frank stressed.
