Following the police-involved killing of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile – two black men – and the deadly protest that left five police officers dead in Dallas, two major campaigns have been raised in the U.S.
The first campaign, #BlackLivesMatter, started earlier in the week in the communities where the shooting took place. The second campaign, #AllLivesMatter, which started much later is to counter the first one
The #AllLivesMatter campaign, which was started predominantly by celebrities is aimed at striking a balance for the initial #BlackLivesMatter campaign.
Amongst the celebrities promoting this campaign are Columbus Short, Fetty Wap, and Prince Jackson (Michael Jackson’s son).
Celebrities like Janet Jackson (Michael Jackson’s sister) are campaigning for the two sides as they use #BlackLivesMatter hashtag in addition to the #AllLivesMatter hashtag.
As a result of harsh responses that have trailed the new #AllLivesMatter campaign, some of the celebrities have since deleted their tweets.
