New dates have been announced for the season’s remaining fixtures of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
NPFL organizers and regulating body, The League Management Company, LMC, announced new dates for the last four matchdays in an official tweet on Thursday.
The decision to reschedule the games was made due to Super Eagles and home-based Eagles Continental Engagements and kick-off of the Federations Cup, which is now known as AITEO Cup.
According to the tweet, NPFL Matchday 35 earlier scheduled for next Wednesday will now hold on 20 August (Next Weekend).
Matchday 36 games have been moved to August 27 while Matchday 37 and 38 games will come up on September 3 and 9 respectively.
The home-based Eagles are involved in a two-legged African Nations Championship Qualifiers against Benin Republic this Sunday in Cotonou and next weekend in Kano.
The Super Eagles will play Cameroon in the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers on September 1 in Uyo before heading to Yaounde, Cameroon for the return tie three days later.
The first round draws for the AITEO Cup (formerly known as FA cup and Federations Cup) will be made on Friday, 11th August 2017.
About 64 teams are expected to compete in the first round, with the matches scheduled to be played on Wednesday, 16th of August 2017.
However, the fixtures adjustment does not affect weekend’s Matchday 34 games. Leaders, Plateau United host second placed MFM FC in a top of the table clash while Champions, Rangers host Sunshine Stars in a major regelation fight.
