Chimamanda Adichie

A good day for literature lovers as Award Winning Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is honoured with a Special Achievement award for Critically Acclaimed Novelist at the 2015 Man of the Year Award. She is being honoured along with the former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the first African Chartered Accountant, Chief Akintola Williams who stand on the podium to receive the prestigious Silverbird Extraordinary Award

The Silverbird Man of the Year award which is now in its tenth year was instituted to honor Nigerians who have excelled in their chosen careers. The award has honored Nigerians like late Professor Dora Akunyili, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Doctor Mike Adenuga and Doctor Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, born 15 September 1977 is a Nigerian novelist, nonfiction writer and short story writer. A MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, Adichie has been called “the most prominent” of a “procession of critically acclaimed young anglophone authors [that] is succeeding in attracting a new generation of readers to African literature”

Her works include Half of Yellow Sun, Purple Hibiscus, Americanah, among others. She won the award alongside Environmentalist, Desmond Majekodunmi, and Founder of BenTV, Alistair Soyode. The award was received on her behalf by Madam Sally Mbanefo the Director General of Nigerian Tourism Development Board (NDTC).
