Fantastic news for literature lovers!!! Award winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has received a honorary degree from John Hopkins University in Maryland at the University-wide commencement ceremony in celebration of her work as a successful writer.
In 2003, Chimamanda Adichie was a student at John Hopkins University, finishing up a master’s degree in creative writing.
She was awarded this honorary degree alongside seven global achievers who have made a mark in their various fields of study, like renowned U.S filmmaker, Spike Lee, the founding director of Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproduction Health, Laurie Zabin.
In a video released by the University, she advised the graduating students saying “eat real food as often as you can and embrace ignorance. Say those words “I don’t know” because by embracing ignorance, you open up the possibility of knowledge”
