Clashes between rival cult groups in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, has led to the brutal killing of not less than four persons suspected of having links with the factions involved.

The clashes happened between Monday, October 31 and Wednesday, November 2 and police have confirmed some of the killings while Kwara state police command spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi says the force is awaiting more information on other deaths in the clashes.

According to Leadership newspaper, the clashes first occurred on Monday, October 31 night in Gaa-Akanbi area of the metropolis when suspected rival cult members gruesomely murdered a boy in his 20s.

Reports says that the clash thereafter spread to Ipata Market and Kankatu areas of the metropolis on Tuesday, November 1 where two persons were killed by suspected cultists.

Another man in his 30s who was preparing for work on Wednesday was hacked down by men suspected to be cult members in Odoota area of the metropolis who struck between 10am and 11am.
