Nigerian Entertainers have always been versatile. Not ones or twice have we seen musicians or comedians venture into acting, fashion and so much more. Falz, Tiwa Savage, Omawunmi, who are musicians, have taken acting roles over the years.

Nigerian singer, D’Banj, also known as the ‘Koko master’ made two major announcements to this effect. These major announcements were made during a live quiz with South African radio host, Anele Mdoda on 947. First he revealed his plans to go into Hollywood. He stated that he could be trying his hand at acting once he was done with Lip Sync Battle Africa which he currently hosts with South African media girl, Pearl Thusi.

He also announced that he will be starting his own reality show soon. He said: “Once you say you’re an entertainer‚ you don’t want to limit yourself. So yes‚ I’m going into Hollywood. It might be here in South Africa where I’ll be having a reality show about me.”

D’Banj was born Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo on 9 June 1981. He is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, and entrepreneur. He has won several music awards, including the awards for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009, Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, and Best-selling African Artist at the 2014 World Music Awards. D’banj has always been versatile. He had his first reality show, Koko Mansion in 2009, launched his personal flagship product, Koko Garri and got signed to rapper Kanye West’s GOOD Music label. D’banj is also the founder of Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development. He is Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace. In support of agriculture investments, Dbanj, he released the song “Cocoa Na Chocolate.

In 2015, he was applauded by World Bank Chief, Jim Yong Kim for using his music power and high celebrity status to bringing attention to serious and critical issues in Africa with special focus on agriculture and poverty alleviation. In 2015, D’banj released a video to raise awareness on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.
