For the second year running, Diddy, real name Sean Comb, ranked as number one on Forbes list of the highest-paid hip hop acts in the music genre.

This year would have made it Diddy’s fifth year in a row ranked as number one but for Dr. Dre’s ‘Beats by dre’ payday in 2014 that saw Dre rank as number one, Diddy saw his streak broken.

Much of Diddy’s earnings are not from music. According to Forbes, the bulk of his earnings came from non-music ventures.

Coming top with $62 million earned over the course of the year, Diddy has various business ventures and endorsement deals to thank for his hefty bank account.

Diddy’s major source of income includes his partnerships with Ciroc Vodka, television network Revolt, clothing line Sean John and alkaline water Aquahydrate.

Jay Z comes second behind Diddy with an earning of $53.5 million despite not releasing any album over the year and limited gigs.

Like Diddy, Jay Z made the bulk of his earnings from non-music ventures like his Roc Nation Entertainment Company, D’Ussé cognac and Brignac champagne.

Dr. Dre who was number one just two years ago completed the top three with an earning of $41 million.

Dre also didn’t make much from music, he made money from his deals and from biopic Straight Outta Compton.

Drake with an earning of $38.5 million and Wiz Khalifa with $24 million ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. These two make the bulk of their earnings from music ventures, unlike the first three.

The only female artist included in the ranking is Nicki Minaj, who earned the sixth spot with $20.5 million. Following the “Side to Side” rapper is Pitbull ($20 million), Pharrell Williams ($19.5 million), Kendrick Lamar ($18.5 million) and Birdman ($18 million).

Quite contrary to his media presence in the past year, Kanye West ranked out of the top ten with $17.5 million earned
