When the Avatar movie first hit the cinemas in 2009, fans couldn’t get enough of it and they’ve been calling for a sequel to the sci-fi movie ever since.
Few years ago, fans clamour for a sequel got the better of makers of the movie and they got to work on the sequels but details were shrouded in mystery.
Now, almost seven years later, director James Cameron, lets out a few hints about the story line of the sequels.
Speaking with “Variety” James Cameron said Toruk won’t have any direct connections to the movie universe, but might have a similar emotional arc: “(The sequels are) more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans.
“But thematically, `Toruk’ manages to land closely to the feeling of where the sequel stories are going.”
As regards the date Avatar 2 will be released, Cameron confirmed their earlier announced date of two years and added: “we haven’t moved that target yet, but we will if we need to.”
Fans should be expecting four sequels to the Avatar movie. Cameron disclosed this already earlier in the year in April at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Speaking about how the four sequels will be released, Cameron said: “the important thing for me is not when the first one comes out but the cadence of the release pattern.
“I want them to be released as close together as possible. If it’s an annual appointment to show up at Christmas, I want to make sure that we’re able to fulfill on that promise.”
