A 22 years old Dutch woman who reported her rape to Qatar Police on March 15, 2016 has been convicted of ‘illicit sex’ by a court in the middle east country.

She reported the rape three months ago and was detained since then until her trial. The case only came before the court when her family decided to go public.

According to her sentence, she was fined $824 dollars and will be deported.

Her lawyer, Brian Lokolo said that the alleged attacker who spiked her drink and took her to his flat where she realised she had been raped, was sentenced to 100 lashes for having ‘illicit sex’.

He explained that she had gone dancing but when she returned to the table and had a sip of her drink, she realised something had been added to the glass.

The sex offender in his defense said the sex was consensual.

Article 281 of Qatar’s penal code states: “Whoever copulates with a female over 16 without compulsion, duress or ruse shall be punished with imprisonment for a term up to seven years.

“The same penalty shall also be imposed on the female for her consent.”

According to Dutch Ambassador to Qatar, everything will be done to get her out of the country to where she wants to go.
