The crop of Portuguese players who won the Euro 2016 championship finals on Sunday night as they thumped host nation, France, by a lone goal will be going home with more than the shining little medal placed on their neck on the night.
Portuguese online sports site, abola.pt reports that each player will be awarded a bonus of 275,000 euros (77.6 million naira).
This huge bonus was said to have been negotiated by the captains of the team with the country’s football federation ahead of Sunday’s finals at Stade de France.
With the players having earned expenses allowances during the tournament, the win at the final will now see each of them net a total of 300,000 euros (84.6 million naira).
