Recent evidence has shown that Governor Fayose of Ekiti State was banned by the American government in February 2009 from getting a visa to enter the US, along with his wife & first son.
Reports say that the ban was over allegations of corruption and unjust enrichment during his tenure as governor. He was said to have bribed people to attend his political rallies and bribed journalists to write favorable news stories on him. He was also alleged to have triggered many events of political violence and electoral malpractice.
It is unclear whether the ban still remains in force.
