The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma has disclosed that the implementation of the 2016 national budget which was signed into law this month begins on the 13th of May. Speaking at the budget breakdown in Abuja, the minister stated that this budget will run until the end of May in 2017.
Before reading out the figures allocated to various sectors, he said that the Federal Government were planning to ensure that the 2017 budget is ready before the end of the year.
He outlined special programs conceived by the Federal Government to improve the well-being of Nigerians at all levels. The figure attached to the special programmes was declared to be N500 billion by the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.
To keep up with the progress of activities, the Federal Government will be requesting for a report by all ministries, departments and agencies every month.
The budget, according to sources, focuses on six aspects which are: economic reforms, infrastructure, social development, security, the environment and regional development. The budget strategically focuses on establishing a macro-economic stability for the real sector through partnerships with the private sector.
