Diagnosed of brain cancer just two months after placing third at the Miss World competition in 2014, stunning Nicaraguan beauty, Yumara Lopez has finally lost the battle.
She died on Thursday at the tender age of 22 after a long two-year-battle with the brain cancer. She was pronounced dead at the Alejandro Davila Bolanos Military Hospital in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua.
When she represented her country at the competition, Yumara Lopez had no idea she already had the terminal disease.
However, only two months after placing third out of 121 contestants at the event in London, the gorgeous brunette was diagnosed with a deadly second stage astrocytoma, cancer of the brain.
Yumara was given the heartbreaking news that she had brain cancer in 2014 after she suffered dizziness, vision problems and crippling migraines.
After being diagnosed, Yumara rapidly lost weight, suffered hair loss and was confined to a wheelchair. And after a brief remission this year, Yumara was told that the devastating tumour had ballooned in size.
In 2014, Yumara was elected Miss World Nicaragua 2014, after the young woman who originally won the contest, Maria Esther Cortes Molina, renounced her crown.
The world mourns her death. The director of Miss World Nicaragua and her representative, Denis Davila, lamented her death, describing her as a “fighter”.
