Nigerian youngster, Alex Iwobi, 20, has been drawing positive reactions from active and retired footballers with his impressive form and steady development since he broke out for Arsenal last season.
Iwobi who has been a fairly regular starter for Arsenal this season has two goals to his name, the most recent came in the win over Crystal Palace with a looping header from inside the six yard area.
Now, his teammate, Francis Coquelin has tipped the young Nigerian forward to shine in 2017.
Commenting on players who may likely impress this year, the French international who picked up a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s 3 – 3 away draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday night is convinced Iwobi will be one.
“Alex had his breakthrough season but this year he can confirm it even more,” Coquelin noted, praising his style of play, “I really like the way he plays. He’s got technique and quick passing.
He however advised that Iwobi needs to improve his goal scoring. “The only thing he needs to add now is goals and he will be a complete player, but he’s a player I really like. 2017 can be his year.”
