The crises within the Peoples Democratic Party has refused to ebb as a Federal High Court, which sat in Abuja on Thursday endorsed the appointment of Ali Modu Sherif as the party’s National Chairman.
The court also declared the party’s national convention held in Port Harcourt as illegal.
Only on Tuesday, however, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said it had recognised Sen. Ahmed Makarfi as the partys’ Acting National Chairman.
The declaration was made by Mr Nick Dazang, INEC’s Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, on Tuesday in Abuja, who said that INEC ratified the administrative approval granted Makarfi, based on the judgment of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt.
DAzang said INEC would recognise the Makarfi’s National Caretaker’s activities such as the conduct of primaries of political officers and submission of list of candidates for any election to be conducted by INEC.
