The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) yesterday sealed five filling stations in Makurdi, for hoarding and selling at prices that are above the government-approved price.

The affected filling stations are reportedly Prime Power Filling station along Ankpa Ward, Bolec station on Modern Market road, P. Kula close to High-Level Market, Kyabis filling station and Jenny Investment located along Modern Market road.

From reports, it was gathered that Prime Power, Bolec and P. Kula filling stations were sealed for hoarding products and not complying with the approved price of N86.50, Kyabis and Jenny Investment on the hand were sealed for selling product at N140 per liter after the DPR team left their stations. At Prime Power station, the pump attendants ran at the sight of the DPR team. Shortly after it was shut down, they discovered 11,000 litres in the station’s underground tank, of which, they initially claimed not to have the products.
