HBO’s Primetime TV show, Game of Thrones, having won 35 awards at the annual Emmy Awards before Sunday night’s 2016 edition, needed only two awards to become the most awarded Primetime show ever; and well it did on the night winning three awards.
GOT which now boasts of 38 Emmy awards now has one more award than Frasier, the show that had the most awards, 37, for a Primetime TV show.
Out of 23 nominations in this year’s Emmy, GOT won 12 this years. The awards include best writing in a drama series, best directing in a drama series and best drama.
GOT lost out in the acting categories, which included actors from the show, such as Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington.
Peter Dinklage who played Tyrion Lannister in GOT has been nominated as best actor at the Emmy for six consecutive years and has won twice.
This year is the second year running that GOT will be winning the award for outstanding drama series.
