Since the 2-0 Quarter final Victory of the Nigerian Dream Team VI over Denmark at the ongoing Olympics in Rio, permutations have pitched Nigeria against hosts Brazil in the Gold Medal match.
Notwithstanding the permutations, Nigeria’s U-23 team Coach, Samson Siasia has said the focus for now is to defeat Germany in the Semi Final Match on Wednesday and not Brazil who are at this point only likely opponent.
After the victory over Denmark on Saturday Siasia while speaking to the press praised his defense for holding out against “a very, very good” Denmark and described the match against Germany as “not a laughing matter”.
He insisted that his team have to eliminate Germany to reach the final where there may be possibility of meeting Brazil.
“I don’t want to worry about Brazil right now. I have the semi-final against Germany to think about and that is the only thing in my mind right now.
“After crossing the Germany hurdle, we will think of our opponents for the gold medal match,” Siasia said, according to Punch.
The Nigerian U-23 team defeated Brazil two decades ago in Atlanta on their way to winning Nigeria’s First Olympics Gold Medal in Football.
