First it was Zayn Malik’s exit from the British boy band, One Direction, now it’s all members of the band going in separate directions.
The news of the split hit the entertainment space about two days ago but we had to wait until we’ve got confirmation from members of the group before we share the news.
Harry Styles, a prominent member of group, confirmed the news while speaking to Paul McCartney of The Beatles’ for AnOther Man magazine’s Autumn/Winter 2016 issue.
Speaking to Paul McCartney who himself was part of a group that separated, Styles confirmed the news but went on to express optimism of the group coming back together.
He said: “I would never say we’ll never do anything again, but it’s good for us to be exploring different things.
“Maybe at some point everyone will want to do something again, but it’s better if it happens naturally. Like, ‘Hey, we all really want to do something again.’ If that were to happen it would be amazing. I would never rule that out.”
Another member of the group, Niall Horan, who more or less echoed the split with the release of his solo single, ‘This Town’ also confirmed the split in an interview.
Niall said: “For the foreseeable, you know, we’re just taking a break and kind of doing our own thing.”
In more explicit term, Niall confirmed the split even further when he signed a solo record deal with Capitol Records on September 29.
Like Styles, Niall would like to see the group come back together in the future – though neither put a date to it.
Niall made his come-back wish known when he responded to the hashtag #ThisIsNotTheEndOfOneDirection with “100 percent.”
