On the back of Chelsea’s 4 – 0 demolition of Qarabag away from home in the Champions League, Eden Hazard has charged his teammates to do better when they face Liverpool on Saturday.
Why Chelsea needs to do better
Like it was for Chelsea when they took on Manchester City earlier in the season, a match they lost 1 – 0, where the Blues had fewer days to rest than their opponent, Antonio Conte are faced with similar scenario ahead of the important clash at Anfield.
Chelsea arrived back in London at 3 a.m. on Thursday ahead of the trip to Anfield while Liverpool returned to England the previous day.
Conte admits the situation is far from ideal and Hazard has told his teammates they must adapt to ensure they’re raring to go at the weekend.
“The time between the two games is very short,” the Belgium international said.
Hazard continued “We need to adapt and we didn’t adapt well against Manchester City, so we need to do better on Saturday.
“I want to be feeling good. A lot of players didn’t play, I played only 60 minutes and N’Golo [Kante] also came off so we can be fresh on Saturday, even if the game is close.
“We are professional, we can deal with this. We will do everything, we will do recovery and we will see on Saturday.”
