Mrs. Winifred Oyo – Ita, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has called on Federal Public Servants in the country to ensure regular checkup of their health to ensure effective service delivery.

She made this call on the 15th of April 2016 in Abuja where she declared open a five day free medical checkup for Federal Civil Servants in the country.

According to her, most of the reported cases of collapse of some workers could be attributed to lack of proper medical checkups by the workers to determine their health status.

She advised workers to always create time out of their busy schedules to ensure that they have a thorough medical checkup of their health, especially in recent times when there are reported cases all over the world of increase in hypertension among adult population, and other related contagious diseases that can be so devastating if not detected at the early stage for possible and proper medical attention.

She assured the public of government’s determination in ensuring a healthy workforce which would be committed to providing effective, efficient and prompt services to Nigerians.

The Senior Medical Officer in charge of the Federal Government Staff Hospital, in the Federal Secretariat Abuja, Dr. Vivian Okafor said that the exercise was organised to give workers the opportunity to know their health status for possible medical attention.
