Babatunde Fashola

The Nigerian House of Represntatives have summoned the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), and other agencies in the power sector to a public hearing over the state of power supply in the country.

The public hearing was called to rub minds and proffer substantial solutions to improve power sufficiency.

The Lawmakers said that the state of the nation’s power has increased the hardship of Nigerians and plummeted the economy too.

Despite the many years of privatization in the country, the country still suffers epileptic power supply.

With the lack of improvement in power, the Federal Government still maintains its stand that electricity tariffs will not be reversed.
The Minister supported this at the hearing, saying an increase in tariff is inevitable if the nation wants to enjoy a steady supply of power.
He added that the National Assembly has already empowered the National Electrical Regulatory Commission, NERC, to fix tariff in the country.
