Nigeria has once again lost one of her citizens living outside the country, this time, not in South Africa but in India. The death was linked to an argument on the desirability of Biafra.
The body of the deceased who was identified as N. Chigozie, 33, was found near the railway gate in Hennur, northeast Bengaluru, in the early hours of Monday. He was found with head injuries at 2 a.m.
According to Indian Police, the victim’s body has been moved to Ambedkar hospital for autopsy as investigation underway.
Times of India reports that the Police has registered a case of murder based on the statement made by Chigozie’s brother.
According to Bangalore Mirror, Chigozie’s brother, named Nanso, claimed his brother was killed after an argument with other friends over Biafra.
On Sunday evening, Chigozie, Nieskho and four other Nigerians had a party at African Kitchen restaurant at Byrathi near Hennur.
A statement released by the Police as reported by Times of India, states that “It seems to be an accidental death. Preliminary evidence shows Chigozie, who was speeding on his bike, crashed into an iron railing and died of head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. But his younger brother Nieskho claims he was murdered.
“The six revellers quarrelled over sharing food and assaulted each other. Nieskho went to a nearby hospital to treat his injuries and Chigozie followed him on bike. While returning from the hospital, Chigozie died,” the Police said.
