Italian side, F.C. Internazionale Milano, also known as Inter Milan today confirmed on its official website that it has parted ways with club manager, Roberto Mancini, by mutual agreement.
It stated that the club would like to thank Mancini “for the work carried out with the team since joining in November 2014” when he took over at the club.
“We thank Roberto for the work and commitment he has shown the club over the past 20 months”, the statement read.
Last season, Inter Milan finished 4th in Serie A leaving fans disappointed given that the team stood 1st on the log until the Christmas break.
Mancini’s sack may not be unrelated to his team’s dismal performance in this summer’s preseason, the latest of which was Friday’s 1 – 6 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs.
According to Goal.com, former Ajax boss Franck De Boer will take over from Mancini at the San Siro.
