American superstar Jennifer Lawrence has emerged world’s highest-paid actress for the second year in a roll, earning 46 million dollars during the year.
Lawrence, 26, topped the list of 10 highest paid actresses worldwide in a release by Forbes Magazine on Tuesday.
According to Forbes, Lawrence’s impressive earnings consists largely of a profit slice from the big box office gross of 653.4 million dollars from her final ‘Hunger Games’ and upfront fee for the forthcoming ‘Passengers’.
It said that her total earning for the year was, however, down with 11.5 per cent from 52 million dollars she earned in 2015 when she also topped the list.
The magazine reports that Lawrence was followed on the list by Melissa McCarthy who took home 33 million dollars in earnings during the year.
It said Veteran Hollywood actress Julia Roberts was also named among the world’s highest paid actresses, standing at number eight, with 12 million dollars.
“Once again, we examined stars from around the globe, scouring Bollywood and the burgeoning Chinese cinema industry,’’ Forbes said.
The magazine added that 30 per cent of the list hailed from outside the U.S.
Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, it noted, made the cut for the second consecutive year, standing at number five on the list, with 17 million dollars earning.
Forbes said Charlize Theron, a dual citizen of South Africa and the U.S., returned to the list for the first time since 2013 at sixth position, earning 16.5 million dollars.
It revealed that India’s Deepika Padukone, the only newcomer to the ranking, stood at the bottom of the list with 10 million dollars earning.
The magazine said together, the world’s 10 highest-paid actresses tallied a combined 205 million dollars between June 1, 2015 and June 1, 2016 before fees and taxes.
