Everton’s highly-rated 22-year-old defender, John Stones, has moved to Manchester City for £47.5m, reports the BBC.
The £47.5m paid on Stone makes him the second most expensive defender in the world after David Luiz who moved to PSG from Chelsea for £50m in 2014.
Stones is now also the second most expensive English footballer after Raheem Sterling over whom City paid £49m to Liverpool last season.
Stones is reported to have signed a six-year contract in a deal that saw Pep Guardiola land his eighth signing since he took over as City’s manager.
Chelsea tried but failed to sign the young defender tipped to become England’s next John Terry last season, seeing a £40m bid rejected by Everton.
Meanwhile it’s been revealed on social media that Manchester United’s new signing, Paul Pogba will be wearing the No. 6 shirt formerly worn by Johnny Evans before he joined West Brom last summer.
Pogba wore the coveted no. 10 shirt in Juventus.
