The Police Command of Kano State has confirmed the arrest of two persons suspected to be behind the murder of the Mrs. Bridget, the 75-year old trader who was allegedly beheaded at Kofar Wambai market, Kano.
Addressing journalists on the crime, Kano State Police Commissioner, Maigari Dikko confirmed the murder and the arrest but denied reports that the woman was beheaded.
Reports on social media has been that Mrs. Bridget was beheaded, but report from the Police states otherwise, that she was beaten to death by an angry mob.
The Police report further stated that the mob’s actions were as a result of an alleged blasphemy against the prophet of Islam.
In correspondence with reporters, the husband of the victim, Pastor Mike Agbahime also stated, like the Police, that she wasn’t beheaded.
He revealed that prior to the incident, she had a misunderstanding with neighbours over space.
On how she was murdered, he revealed that his wife was killed in hiding by youths before the intervention of the police.
The Police Commissioner stated that the suspects were already in custody and would be charged to court.
The Police Force would also continue to investigate and ensure that the real perpetrators of the act are brought to book.
