Growing up was definitely a whole lot more fun with the King Kong franchise which started as far back as 1933. With the franchise ready to continue, one can only look forward in excitement.
‘Kong: Skull Island’ is a reboot of the King Kong franchise and will serve as the second installment in Legendary’s Godzilla – Kong film series.
What is quite fascinating about it though, is that it is set to feature the biggest King Kong of all time, according to the director, Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Vogt-Roberts in an interview with Paste Magazine, explained his King Kong would be an astounding 100-feet tall, dwarfing his predecessor, the 1970s Kong which was 50-plus feet.
More than the new Kong’s size, it’s the way the studio is reshaping the story. Kong: Skull Island goes more in-depth as to the home of the big Kong. The play on size also appears to be heavily tied with the story’s treatment.
The studio seems to be going for the idea of putting a mythical almost god-like substance like the Skull Island in the modern context.
The movie features an ensemble starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Toby Kebbell, Tom Wilkinson, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary, John Goodman and John C. Reilly.
Principal photography began on October 19, 2015 in Hawaii as the movie is scheduled for release on March 10, 2017.
