In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to Kwara state Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, Kwara State Government has stated that it has had to cut running costs by 50 per cent because of the drop in federal allocation to the state.
Akorede informed the public that these austerity measures were to reduce cost of governance.
He said: “Approximately, N400 million is now being used to run the government as against the previous N800 million. Since the federal allocation to the state dropped drastically, government has been working hard to pool resources for other developmental projects.”
