The President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika, has asked the Christian community in Malawi to step in and help stop the killing of people with albinism.
Reports have it that 18 albinos have been murdered and dozens more attacked and abducted since last year.
Expressing sadness at how albinos are being targeted, Mutharika said he will be sending officials to other countries in the region that have faced similar problems to learn how they have dealt with the issue.
Albinos are targeted and killed or mutilated across Africa, especially in the eastern part because of beliefs that their body parts are necessary ingredients in traditional rituals to bring success or financial prosperity.
