Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea stars have all been shortlisted for the September Premier League of the Month award after putting up impressive performances for their respective clubs.
The duo of Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne made the cut for City for their contributions to Pep Guardiola’s perfect record in September which placed them top of the table after a record of four wins, with 17 goals scored and none conceded.
In the same vein, Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku are both up for the award for a second consecutive month following their big summer transfers.
Morata netted four times, including a hat trick away to Stoke City while Lukaku scored once in each of United’s four matches in September and added an assist in the match at former club, Everton.
Major surprises included in the list are German midfielder, Pascal Gross, who becomes Brighton’s first ever player to be nominated after two goals and two assists helped the newly promoted club to six points in September and Newcastle United defender, Jamal after his back-to-back winning goals against Swansea and Stoke respectively.
