Manchester United have reportedly offered Arsenal a pair of deals for Alexis Sanchez which could see them overtake city rival, Manchester City in the race to sign the Chilean, according to sources in the English media this afternoon.
According to a number of substantial updates across social media this afternoon, City may not have it all their own way in their chase of Sanchez, with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool having emerged as fellow contenders for his signature.
Reliable Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, first broke the news that United had made contact with Sanchez’s representatives this morning, with his claim that the Red Devils have offered up midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan plus cash in exchange for the Chilean since backed by a number of English outlets.
And, as per a second report via the Guardian this afternoon, the Old Trafford have also tabled a straight-cash offer of £25 million.
Nevertheless, Manchester City are still viewed as the odds-on favourites to secure a deal for the Arsenal star, with Sanchez said to be desperate to reunite with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
The story surrounding the future of Sanchez was one of the talking points of the summer transfer window, with all of Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City having expressed an interest in the 29-year-old.
A deadline day move to the Etihad to join up with former boss Pep Guardiola was labeled as ‘imminent’ by a number of outlets at the end of August, but, in the end, a move failed to materialise, mainly due to Arsenal’s inability to secure a deal for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
