The Accord Party (AP) has denied reports that it has formed political alliance with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in a bid to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.

Chairman of the party, Mohammad Nalado, made this known in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

Nalado said there was never a time a meeting held between the two parties to discuss such subject.

He, however, added that even if there was a meeting where such idea was discussed between PDP and other opposition parties, Accord Party was never present.

He cautioned those peddling the rumours, stressing that the National Working Committee (NCW) of the party does not contemplate any alliance or merger with any party, as being insinuated in the purported media report.

Nalado emphasised that Accord Party was committed to providing leadership to Nigerians and would continue to play its role as a responsible opposition party in Nigeria, which will offer constructive criticism to the ruling APC on policies that affect the people.
