Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, have condemned the recent attacks on oil pipelines in the oil rich Niger Delta by militants.
Speaking after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Oshiomhole, said all the presidency needed right now from all Nigerians is their full support.
He stated that recent activities in the Southern region would hinder the area from attracting investors and urged Niger Delta residents to exercise patience with the current administration which in his opinion, has shown determination to fulfill its promises to the region.
Addressing the issue of unpaid salaries in Edo state, he stated that the difficulty faced with payment of state workers now was brought about by a “misrule of the past”.
He added that they are making relentless efforts to ensure salaries are paid, as they’ve met with the President to discuss the huge challenge facing many states.
Oshiomole explained that unpaid salaries had created an unseen vicious circle of landlords not getting their rents, market women unable to sell, which in turn results in a depressed economy.
Governor Masari of Kaduna State who also condemned the recent attacks on pipeline in the Niger Delta said that the Niger Delta Avengers militant group have no valid justification for their activity.
He said that such acts threaten the unity and progress of Nigerians.
