Hollywood star, Tom Cruise might be 55 – an age most men are struggling to keep their health under control – but he still does his heart stopping movie stunts by himself. Who needs a stuntman when the veteran is on set?
The Mission: Impossible star has now returned to London doing what he does best – filming his own stunts for the action-packed film franchise.
In true Ethan Hunt-style, Tom was spotted running across the rooftop of Blackfriars station in London on Saturday during filming for the new movie.
The new on-set photos follow on from Tom injuring himself while filming a similar stunt for the film in August last year.
In a video of the moment, Tom can be seen leaping from one building to another while secured to a wired harness when he falls just short of the mark and hits the edge pretty hard.
Director Christopher McQuarrie later said that the actor was “always supposed to slam into the side of the building” during the stunt.
“On the fourth try, he hit the building at a slightly different angle and he broke his ankle,” he added (via Sky News).
Thankfully, it looks like Saturday’s filming was a lot less painful for the actor.
Tom has been in training for years for his latest stint as Ethan Hunt, and recently promised fans of the series that this will be the most exciting film yet.
“It is really crazy,” he said on The Graham Norton Show last year. “We’ve shot some of the stuff in Paris already and it is going to be really wild and thrilling for the audience. There is always another mountain.”
The sixth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise will also see the return of Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Michelle Monaghan, as well as new stars Angela Bassett and Henry Cavill.
Mission: Impossible 6 is scheduled to land in cinemas on July 27, 2018.
