In what people call an attempt to create the next Game of Thrones, MTV gave us The Shannara Chronicles, which is based on fantasy author, Terry Brooks’ best-selling novels.

The first season though possessing stunning visuals and good looking characters was criticised heavily. It was said to have poorly developed characters and acting.

Despite what the critics say, MTV has renewed Shannara for a second season, as it enjoyed more than middling success. It was MTV’s highest-rated new series this year, as well as “the highest-grossing digital download for a single season on MTV ever.”

The Shannara Chronicles follows a trio of heroes who’ve embarked on a quest to stop a demon army bent on destroying humanity’s world. It stars Poppy Drayton as Amberle, an Elvin Princess; Invana Baquero as Eretria, a Human Rover; and Austin Butler as Wil, a Half-Elf, Half-Human.

Details about the next season’s plot have been released yet. However we are glad the series is continuing for while it may not be a game of thrones, it appears to be a good show in its own right
