The Nasarawa State Government has said 1,500 youths have been employed under the Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES).

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment, Ibrahim Bai, the scheme is set up to reduce in part inactivity of youths in the state.

Mr. Bai disclosed this during the verification exercise of the second phase of the scheme at the government house.

He explained that the youths would be arranged and deployed to protect government facilities across the state as part of their responsibilities.

Mr. Bai added that the third phase of the project, which is underway, will be the training of 1,500 nurses and teachers to be chosen from the 1,050 wards in the state.
