Reigning NBA MVP and Golden State Warriors’ guard, Stephen Curry, has been fined $25,000 for throwing his mouth guard during Game 6 of the NBA Finals which took place at the Quicken Loans Center in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday.

After picking up his sixth foul in the fourth quarter of the game, Curry was ejected from the game for throwing his mouth guard into the stands and hitting a fan.

It was the first time Curry had been ejected in his career, and the first time he had fouled out of a game in three years.

Compounding to the Warriors’ 115-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the fine was announced by the NBA on Friday.

Warriors’ Coach, Kerr was also fined $25,000 for his comments criticising the referees for the calls they made on Curry during the game.

Kerr had stated in a press briefing after the game that three out of the six fouls called on Curry were “absolutely ridiculous”.

Kerr was not the only one displeased with the referees fouls on Curry as wife, Ayesha Curry took to twitter and posted a tweet alleging rigging in the NBA.

“I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money… Or ratings in not sure which. I won’t be silent. Just saw it live sry”, the tweet read.

The tweet was later deleted from her account, after which she issued apologised and explained her actions in a series of tweets on the social media platform.

She tweeted:

  • “tweeted in the heat of the moment because the call was uncalled for”.
  • “Police racial profiled my father and told him to remove credentials and tried to arrest him. It’s been a long night for me. I apologize:”
  • “I’m okay that we lost… I just can’t take people coming at my family for absolutely no reason. Something I don’t understand or stand for.”

Unlike Coach Steve Kerr’s situation, Ayesha Curry won’t be fined for her comments against the NBA or the referees.

Despite Stephen Curry’s fine, he will still be eligible to play in Game 7 of the NBA Finals holding in the Golden State Warriors’ home turf at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on Sunday night.
