The group known to be causing worrying string of attacks on pipelines in the Niger Delta has announced their latest attack on Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline in Oruk Anam Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
The group used its Twitter account to announce this attack as it did in its previous attacks.
The group announced the attack on the NNPC pipeline thus: “At 4:00am @NDAvengers blow up NNPC Pipeline in Oruk Anam Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom.”
Aside announcing attacks, the group also uses its Twitter account to issue warnings.
Using its Twitter account, the group ones warned government and oil companies not to carry out repair works on oil pipelines in the region and to suspend the buying of crude oil from the Niger Delta region pending the creation of “the right atmosphere that will engender genuine dialogue”.
The group had earlier snubbed an invitation by the Federal Government for a dialogue, stating that their demands must be met before any meeting is arranged.
One of the conditions proposed for them to dialogue, as stated by its spokesperson, was that the home countries of international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta should be involved in the peace process.
The group also demands a genuine sincerity from the Nigerian Government and intention to improve the lives of inhabitants of the Niger Delta region.
