“Naijamerican” professor of creative writing and international award winning author of science fiction, fantasy and mystical realism, Nnedi Okorafor has won the 2016 Nebula Award for Best Novella with her book, Binti.

The Nebula Awards are given each year by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America for the best science fiction or fantasy fiction novel, novella, novellete and short story published in the United States during the previous year.

Binti is the first part of the novella series that was published in September of 2015. It is also a finalist for the 2016 Hugo Award for Best Novella for which a winner will be announced on August 21st, as well as a British Science Fiction Association Award for Best Short and BooktubeSFF Award for Best Short Work.

The second part of the novella titled, Binti: Home, is due to be released in January 2017, with a third yet-to-be-titled book on the way following its release.

Nnedi Okorafor is the author of many Science Fiction and fantasy novels, novellas and short stories. She is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Buffalo, USA.
